Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

The Texas Workforce Commission has reinstated eligibility requirements for Child Care Services. Effective November 1, 2020, the program will no longer be able to provide eligibility extensions or exceptions to the work/training requirements due to COVID-19.

Please make sure you have informed us if any of the following apply to your family:

  • a permanent loss, of job, training, or education.
  • a temporary job loss of 3 months or more even if it is due to medical reasons; your employer is still closed, or your employer has not called you back to work.
  • a change in address, email, or phone number
  • a permanent loss, of job, training, or education.
  • a change in income or family size that may put your family over 85% of the State Median Income amount for your family size. Please see charts below.

Annual Redetermination:

  • During the 3 months prior to your redetermination date, each parent and step-parent living in the household must average a minimum of 25 hours each week of work, school/training hours; a combination of work and school is also allowed to meet the working/school hours requirement. At Redetermination, families must meet eligibility requirements to continue to receive child care services.
  • For child care services to continue, your children must be attending child care and cannot be on suspension at the time of your annual Redetermination.

Previously Reported Interruptions in Work/Education/Training:

  • Parents who have previously reported they have not been able to work or attend school or training for any reason for more than three months will not be extended further than November 27, 2020 or the end of their current Activity Interruption, whichever is later. Families must meet eligibility requirements to continue receiving child care services.
